Fender's fabled Telecaster

The birth of the Telecaster came about in the late 1940's from the desire of Leo Fender to create a successful solid body electric guitar. The original design owes a lot to the solid body Hawaiian guitars of the time. With a single pickup the guitar had a limited usefulness as the lack of a truss rod meant that most if not all of the original run were replaced because of bent necks. Undeterred, the next model known initially as the Fender 'Broadcaster', came with two pickups and crucially, a truss rod. Due to a copyright infringement the name 'Broadcaster' was changed to the now famous Telecaster.

Fender Tele's have been associated with some of the world's most famous guitarists. Names such as Muddy waters, Keith Richards and the Status Quo front men, Francis Rossi and Rick Parfitt. Jimmy Page also used a hand painted (by himself) Tele known as the 'Dragon Telecaster' and more recently Slipknot's Jim Root has even had a signature Telecaster.
