First introduced in 1958, considered way ahead of its time, Gibson president Ted McCarty wanted to produce a futuristic electric guitar. Along came the Gibson flying V. During the same year the X'plorer came into being. A radical design that was only produced in limited numbers that is now one of the most sought after guitars.
But it wasn't until the Flying V was re-introduced in 1967 the rest of the world caught on.
Since then some of the greatest legends of rock such as Jimi Hendrix and Lenny Kravitz, have succumbed to its unique charm.
