Sustain Pedals
To get the full potential from the piano sound of your keyboard, you really need a sustain pedal. There are two types - the substantial metal option that actually looks like a piano pedal (eg the Yamaha FC4 or Roland DP10), or the small square option (eg the Roland DP2 or Yamaha FC5).

Both types of sustain pedal perform the same function, but the heavy duty metal type are best if you want the closest feel to that of a reel piano. Most sustain pedals up until recently were the ON/OFF type, but there are a number of continuous controller type pedals coming onto the market now which enable you to achieve half-damping effects*
