The most widely played reed in the professional world with a superiority proven over many years, these reeds suit all styles of music. They have excellent response in all registers even allowing a pianissimo attack on the highest notes. Flexibility allows legato or staccato execution of large intervals.

The traditional Vandoren Reed is designed to produice a quality of extremely pure sound due to a very thin reed tip (the area of the reed with maximum vibration) balanced by a solid vertebral column (more cane in the area which climbs gradually to the heel). These reeds are recognised by a straight line to delineate the limit area of the bark.

This has been the favourite reed of some classic saxophonists worldwide including Lee Konitz and Stan Getz.
