Fender Vintera 50s Stratocaster Modified 2-Colour Sunburst The 50s Modified Stratocaster is another guitar in the new 2019 Vintera range of instruments from Fender. It takes from where the Custom Shop designed Classic Player series left off and takes the Strat even closer to a perfect hybrid of 50s aesthetics with modern playability. With a 2 point tremolo system for increased tuning stability, locking vintage style tuners and a modern C shape neck profile with medium jumbo frets, could this be the most versatile Strat ever made? The really comfortable C shaped neck with the slightly flatter fingerboard makes playing chords and licks so easy and fun. Along with the S1 switching I now can play a Strat with all three hotter voiced pickups on at once! Love it. Myke Edwards - Bonners Guitar Specialist S-1 switching I really love how they have done the S-1 switch on the new Vintera 50s Stratocaster Modified. It simply allows you to add the neck pick up to position 1 (bridge pickup) or position 2 (bridge and middle). What this means is that in position 1 you can basically turn your Strat into the middle position of a Tele and in position 2 you actually have all 3 pickups on at once. A really nice way to add a few new usable tones to an otherwise classic setup. Hot pickups Most guitarists will agree that the bell like characteristic of a 50s Stratocaster is one of the sweetest sounding electric guitar tones on the planet. With that said, it is not always the most usable pickup for use with more modern genres of music. The lower output of these pickups will not push amplifiers into natural compression for a percussive clean tone, nor will it push an overdriven amp into high gain territory. Fender gave legendary pickup designer Tim Shaw the challenge of creating a 50s Strat pickup that retains its bell like quality but hits the amp hard enough to produce these modern tones. Of course, after months of research he accomplished the goal and came up with the new Vintage-Style 50s Single-Coil Hot Strat pickup. The perfect pickup for a guitarist that wants just 1 Strat to do everything without needing an army of effect pedals. Modern C As much as I love a V shaped neck profile, I do find it difficult to fully let rip or play extended chords that stretch over 4 frets. In keeping with the idea of making the most versatile 50s Strat Fender has added the ever popular modern C shape neck profile to the Vintera 50s modified Strat. The 9.5” fingerboard radius and medium jumbo frets also ensure that string bends ring out as true as they can and makes vibrato, even with heavier strings feel as smooth as possible. Fender Vintera 50s Stratocaster Sea Foam Green Guitar The new Fender Vintera 50s Stratocaster in Sea Foam Green is one of the latest instruments from the new 2019 Vintera range. The Vintera range starts from where the old Classic Series ended and pushes this Strat even closer to an original 50s instrument. For those guitarists who lust for a vintage instrument but wants a guitar that they can take out night after night without a security guard on hand, this is the perfect guitar. This is the original era tone look and feel of an absolute classic Stratocaster, you can't go wrong. Giving you an authentic feel and the newly designed pickups are so juicy! Simon Piggott - Bonners Guitar Specialist Alder or Ash 1957 was a significant in the world of Strats. It was the first full year that Fender fully transitioned the Stratocaster to an Alder body instead of Ash. The exact reason why Fender decided to make the change is unknown however it is most likely that it was simply because Alder was a much more available wood and therefore much cheaper. It was also easier to work with which would have certainly made things easy for the growing demand of electric guitars in the later part of the 50s. To many the change actually came as a blessing disguise. Although arguably alder isn’t as attractive as ash it does have a very pronounced upper midrange tonal quality that really did help guitarist cut through the mix. For those who did still prefer the warmth that Ash gave, Fender did still continue to make Strats with an Ash body for transparent finished guitars such as sunburst and blonde. In keeping with this the Vintera 50s Strat offers an Alder version in Sea Foam Green and Sonic Blue and an Ash version in a rather beautiful White Blonde. Updated Soft V An important update on the new Vintera 50s Stratocaster range is the updated soft V neck profile. The soft V has always been one of Fenders most popular neck profiles due the fact that it truly does allow for the player to connect fully with the instrument. No part of the left hand is untouched by the neck of the guitar allowing you to really feel the entire resonance of the instrument. The new updated Vintera version brings you even closer to the authentic feel of a real hand crafted 50s soft V. Bell like tone Fender partnered up with pickup guru/wizard Tim Shaw to completely redesign the pickups used in the new Vintera range of instruments. He spent months locked away studying and listening to actual Strat pickups from 50s to ensure that his new pickups was a close as he could make them. He ensured that he used all the correct magnets, wire types and even wind count to make sure that his pickups captured everything that’s associated with a 50s Strat. Nothing less than bell like organic vintage tone. Part Exchange Your Guitar Looking to cash something in exchange for your Fender Vintera 50s Stratocaster? Fender Vintera 60s Stratocaster Modified Pau Ferro Burgandy Mist Metallic Modern genres and playing styles requires nothing less than an electric guitar that is in every way perfect. Guitarists need an instrument that will remain in tune even with vigorous tremolo use. They need a guitar that they can effortlessly glide down the neck on and a guitar that they can easily bend notes on without the notes snagging out. Many modern guitarists also need a guitar that can easily drive their amps into turbo territory as well as produce a natural, articulate and percussive clean sound. Taking from where the old Fender Classic Player Strat left off, the new Fender Vintera 60s Stratocaster Modified takes guitarists even closer to the perfect blend of retro looks and modern playability. This guitar is amazing, the medium-jumbo frets and the modern C shaped neck makes it really easy and comfortable to play. The Pau Ferro sounds just like rosewood, you couldn't even tell the difference. The 60s Hot Strat pickups really do take me back Adam Canavan-White - Bonners Guitar Specialist Hot tone The bark of a 60s Strat is one of the most sought after guitar tones. From the roaring lead tone of Jimi Hendrix and SRV to the elegant clean sounds of John Mayer, the tone of a 60s Strat has always been a sound that most guitarists have chased. One problem guitarists have found with vintage styled Strats was that without the help of effect pedals, the low output pickups struggled to push amps into modern clean and high gain sounds. Fender enlisted pickup designer Tim Shaw to see if he could come up with a set of pickups that captured everything people loved about pickups from the 60s. The bell like glassy tone, the dynamics and openness but make the output hotter so that the pickups could easily push amps into the territories that modern guitarist desire. The new Vintage-Style 60s Hot pickup featured in the 2019 Vintera Stratocaster Modified perfectly nails that brief. All the clarity of a 60s pickup with the output you would expect from a more modern Strat. Modern electrics The addition of the S-1 switch in the Vintera Modified Strat really does make this guitar one of the most versatile Strats ever made. The switch allows you to be able to add the neck pickup to the bridge in position 1 for almost Tele like sounds. And in position 2 it adds the neck pickup allowing you to get the full sonic spectrum of all 3 pickups on at once. A feature so useable and useful that its a surprise to me that all Strats don't come with it as standard. Modern appointments The 2 point tremolo on the new Vintera Stratocaster Modified makes tremolo use smoother than ever and with the rolled steel saddles it retains the classic look we all know and love. The modern C shaped neck, 9.5” fingerboard radius and medium jumbo frets ensure that this guitar is a breeze to play all the way down the neck, whatever your playing style is. The Vintera 60s Strat Modified is perfectly finished off with the 60s style small headstock, vintage-style tuners and the spaghetti logo to ensure that all the mojo and vibe we love about the 60s Strat is retained. Fender Vintera 60s Stratocaster Pau Ferro 3-Colour Sunburst I would place money on it that if you asked guitarists to describe a Strat the example that they would give would be based off a 60s model. Alder body, Rosewood fingerboard, small headstock, spaghetti logo and 3 single coil pickups. The new Vintera 60s Stratocaster is Fenders latest attempt of making an authentic replica of the iconic Stratocaster guitar without busting peoples bank. The Pau Ferro fingerboard perfectly captures the vibe and tone of the old Rosewood boards and the Poly finish does a great job in reproducing the classic colours of the 60s. If you want a Strat that can give you awesome tones and a classic vintage 60's feel, this is it! The revoiced pickups really help the guitar sing. SRV to Mayer, Frusciante to Knopfler and so many more, you've got it covered. Simon Piggott - Bonners Guitar Specialist Glassy tone The glassy, bell like Strat tone produced by such guitarists as Jimi Hendrix, John Mayer, Stevie Ray Vaughan and John Frusciante is one of the most desired tones that electric guitarists seek. The thing that each of these guitarists have in common is a 60s Stratocaster and the beating heart of that guitar is of course the pickups. Fender knew that when designing the new Vintera range of guitars they would have to get the pickups right. They of course got pickup wizard Tim Shaw on the case. He spent months listening and dissecting real pickups from the 60s to ensure that the ones he designed for the new Fender Vintera 60s Stratocaster were the most accurate yet. Vintage C The mid 60s C shape Fender neck shape is the perfect neck shape for those who want something that’s big enough that they can actually hold onto, yet still small enough that they can easily shred down the neck. The all-rounder neck, smaller than a V shape yet bigger than the modern C profile. In keeping with authenticity the neck comes with a 7.25” fingerboard radius and vintage style frets. The headstock features the spaghetti logo and Kluson style tuners. And the body of course comes with a vintage style 6 point tremolo with rolled saddles and a mint green pickguard. Workhorse A classic in every way, designed for every type of player, for every type of show and every type of recording session. The 2019 Vintera 60s Stratocaster truly takes from where the old 60s Classic Strat left off and takes us one step closer to an Original Pre CBS 60s Strat without the price tag. A guitar built to inspire and built to last. Part Exchange Your Guitar Looking to cash something in exchange for your Fender Vintera 60s Stratocaster? Fender Vintera 70s Stratocaster Aged Natural Often overlooked, the 70s Strat is still to many the pinnacle of all the Strats. To name just a few, Yngwie Malmsteem, Ritchie Blackmore and The Edge have all favoured the unique sound, big headstock and overall vibe of a 70s CBS era Strat. Using the old Classic Series as a starting point, Fender left no stone unturned in making sure that the new Fender Vintera 70s Stratocaster is the most accurate recreation yet. If flared trousers and the colour brown is your thing, then this is the guitar for you! I loved trying this guitar for the first time, because of the "early 70s C" neck profile is unbelievably comfortable. Mixed with the Ash Body and the revoiced 70s pickups make for a really pleasurable experience Adam Canavan-White - Bonners Guitar Specialist Flat-pole pickups Part of the unique sound of the 70s Strat was the fact that in around 1974 Fender decided to change the pickups from being staggered to being flat. Just like the pickups of the original 50s telecasters. The flat pole piece pickups meant that the string to string response was far more balanced compared to a staggered pickup. Fender tasked pickup designer Tim Shaw with recreating these classic pickups. He spent months studying actual pickups from the 70s to ensure that the new Vintage-Style 70s pickups found in the Vintera 70s Strat are the best yet. Ash body In keeping with the general colour scheme of the 70s Fender decided to drop many of the custom colours of the 50s and 60s and replace them with more natural finishes. Sienna Sunburst, Natural and Mocha were 3 of the most popular finishes of the era. With these transparent finishes Fender also decided to use Ash as its body wood due to its unique grain pattern and natural beauty. The bright sound of the Ash body partnered up the new flat pole piece pickups really did help redefine the sound of the Strat and give the 70s Strat its own unique voice. An often forgotten part of a Strat from this period is its unique neck profile that is thin at the 1st fret and thick at the 12th. The new 70s C on the 2019 Vintera 70s Strat really does make this the most accurate feeling 70s Strat to date. The Strat is of course finished off with the era correct big headstock, CBS Fender logo, F stamped tuning machines and the F stamped 3 bolt neck plate.
