Gibson Les Paul Electric Guitar Models

In this impressive collection of Gibson Les Paul Electric Guitar Models you will see some absolutely iconic instruments, recognisable in sight and sound as cornerstones of guitar music in the modern era. Although the Les Paul has been at the heart of Gibson's creativity and achievement for decades, it is probably true to say that now these electric guitars are better than ever.

Modern touches, classic essence

With the classic no holds barred rock sound that you can get out of a Les Paul still intact, what you get with the modern Les Paul range is a level of ease in the performance that simply was not possible before. This most notably comes down to the fact that these designs have been able to drop in weight significantly, without lowering the standard, the reliability and the pure power of the instruments. This will still be the electric guitar which will be with you through thick and thin, rocking out night after night. But you won't have to worry about the impracticality of having to lug around something so heavy as you did before!

Beautiful finishes, beautiful sound

Practicality blended with style is a good way to think of these modern Gibson Les Pauls. With the Studio and with the Classic models, you are getting designs where there is nothing thrown into the mix that doesn't need to be there. In this sense you get a work-horse, an absolute powerhouse that you will be glad is on your team. But at the same time, the simplicity of the design lends itself to a certain classic rock style and so you can't help but admire the looks as well as the sound.

Try one out!

Gibson Les Paul Classic Ebony Electric Guitar Part of Gibsons Modern Collection, the Gibson Les Paul Classic is the perfect hybrid of classic looks and feel along with modern performance and features. It's like a modified vintage Les Paul straight from the factory. The guitar takes the classic features of the early 60s Les Paul, the mahogany body with a bound maple top. A slim taper neck, bound rosewood fingerboard and 4 classic colours including Translucent Cherry, Heritage Cherry Sunburst, Honeyburst and Ebony and marries it perfectly with modern features such as 9-Hole weight relief and modern controls. The volume knobs are push-pull coil taps for P-90 like, single-coil tones and the tones are push-pull switches for Phase Switching, as well as a Pure Bypass switch which allows you to play with your bridge pickup wired directly to the output jack. This really is the ultimate guitar for musicians who seek vintage purity but needs a workhorse that's not going to cause backache and can cover any genre from any era. The Ultimate Blend As much as we, myself included lust over the original guitars of the 50s and 60s the reality is that many of these instruments are fairly impractical for recording and gigging. There is a reason why guitar design didn't just stop, things were always being redesigned and imagined each year as technology and music developed. The Gibson Les Paul Classic perfectly represents a gigging musicians guitar. A vintage styled instrument that over the years has been modified and tweaked as things go wrong or as the needs of the player changed. The electronics have been rewired for added versatility and the tuners upgraded to more responsive and stable machines. But at its heart it's still a trusty old Les Paul, ready to rock gig after gig. The Les Paul Classic comes out of the box with these features so that you have your perfect Les Paul factory fresh. 9-Hole Known to many as the ‘Traditional’ weight relief or even as the Swiss Cheese weight relief, the Gibson 9-Hole method has been the standardised method of shaving a few of those extra pounds off the Les Paul since the 80s. Unlike more modern approaches to weight relief, the 9-Hole method still maintains a fair amount of the Les Pauls weight. This makes it a great hybrid for those who still want a solid feeling guitar with tons of sustain but doesn't want a Les Paul that will break their back. Burstbucker 61 Pickups The beating heart of the Les Paul Classic is the 61 Burstbucker Pickups. These are made to 60s PAF spec and give you all the classic tones that you would expect from a vintage-styled Gibson. The warm, airy and natural tone of the PAF is part of what made the Les Paul so famous. Perfect for all types of music, the pronounced midrange is ideal for pushing a breaking up amp into classic rock heaven or for cutting through the mix with a clean sound. The open coil Zebra configuration provides a little more output for a slight increase in punch. Part Exchange Your Guitar Looking to cash something in exchange for your Gibson Les Paul Classic? Gibson Les Paul Studio Ebony Electric Guitar Written By Dennis Ralph - Guitar Specialist S/N 110890218 8.16lb The Gibson Les Paul Studio has been a staple product in the Les Paul range since its inception in the 80s. Originally designed as a budget version of the Les Paul Standard, the Studio promised to give the player everything you would get in sound and feel as the more expensive models but without any of the bells and whistles, therefore making it the perfect tool for the studio. The Gibson Les Paul studio has since found its own reputation, not as studio instrument but as a workhorse instrument that's perfect for gig after gig, night after night. The beauty of this guitar is the fact that it's not so expensive that you can't fully let go on it. It's everything you would expect from a pro-level American made electric guitar and with its premium features such as a Nitro finish and Grover tuners, it won't let you down. Stripped Back Rock Machine To me, there is nothing nicer than a stripped back guitar. No glistening gold bits, posh binding or fancy flamey tops. Everything on this guitar is there simply for purpose and to me that is perfect! And of course not forgetting, there is always beauty in simplicity. The colours that Gibson has selected for the studio range (Cherry, Tangerine Burst, Smokehouse Burst and Ebony) perfectly complements the natural grain of the maple top and they partner wonderfully with the rosewood fingerboard. Ultra-Modern Weight Relief Gone are the days that you need to take a chiropractor with you whenever you want to take out your Les Paul thanks to the Ultra-Modern Weight Relief. Underneath the carved maple top is a series of hollowed-out chambers routed into the mahogany body. This drastically reduces the weight of the instrument insuring that its comfortable for the player night after night. 490R, 498T Pickups Gibson describes this pickup combo as the 'Modern Classic'. Its found in quite a number of instruments in their current catalogue. The pickups capture the essence of the legendary PAF pickups from the 50s and 60s however they have been slightly tweaked for the modern player. Firstly, they are waxed potted to ensure that there is never any issues with microphonic feedback when used with high levels of gain and secondly, they are made with 4 conductor wires so they can be used with a push/pull knob for coil splitting. The pickups are also voiced to have a slightly more accentuated upper mid-range so that no matter how much gain you're using, you always cut through. The 498T bridge pickup is slightly overwound for an even hotter sound. Part Exchange Your Guitar Looking to cash something in exchange for your Gibson Les Paul Studio? The pickups are also voiced to have a slightly more accentuated upper mid-range so that no matter how much gain you're using, you always cut through. The 498T bridge pickup is slightly overwound for an even hotter sound. Part Exchange Your Guitar Looking to cash something in exchange for your Gibson Les Paul Studio? Gibson Les Paul Studio Tangerine Burst Electric Guitar Written By Dennis Ralph - Guitar Specialist The Gibson Les Paul Studio has been a staple product in the Les Paul range since its inception in the 80s.
