Gibson Electric Guitars

At Bonners Music Superstore, we stock a wide range of Gibson electric guitars which suit a variety of players and budgets. A brand steeped in history and interest, Gibson Electric Guitars was founded in 1902 and has been making noteworthy guitars ever since, with the hugely iconic Les Paul and Flying V models both dreamt up by the brand and its designers. The famous players of Gibson guitars are too long to list here: suffice to say that everyone from Billie Joe Armstrong to Bob Dylan, Muddy Waters to Paul McCartney have favoured them.

Gibson Les Paul Electric Guitars

The first Gibson Les Paul electric guitar was originally sold in 1952 and featured a solid mahogany body and a carved maple top with a single cutaway. Playing an important role in the development of electric guitar models over time, Gibson Les Paul has enriched the core design into a stunning, extended range of Les Paul electric guitars models.

Here at Bonners Music Superstore, we are happy to showcase some of the most beautiful models from the Les Paul heritage, such as Gibson Les Paul Classic in vibrant colours with a vintage feel and Gibson Les Paul Studio, for a modern twist, but with a lighter-weight design, and tonal flexibility.

Stage Ready There really is a beauty in simplicity. With only 1 volume and 1 tone knob the Flying V B-2 is perfect for those who want’s a guitar that is more about how hard you hit the string and where you hit the string than whether your bridge pickup tone knob is on exactly 6 and a half. Gibson Les Paul Studio Tangerine Burst Electric Guitar Gibson Les Paul Studio Tangerine Burst Electric Guitar
£1,199.00

Gibson Les Paul Studio Tangerine Burst Electric Guitar Written By Dennis Ralph - Guitar Specialist S/N 126290337 8.15lb The Gibson Les Paul Studio has been a staple product in the Les Paul range since its inception in the 80s. Originally designed as a budget version of the Les Paul Standard, the Studio promised to give the player everything you would get in sound and feel as the more expensive models but without any of the bells and whistles, therefore making it the perfect tool for the studio. The Gibson Les Paul studio has since found its own reputation, not as studio instrument but as a workhorse instrument that's perfect for gig after gig, night after night. The beauty of this guitar is the fact that it's not so expensive that you can't fully let go on it. It's everything you would expect from a pro-level American made electric guitar and with its premium features such as a Nitro finish and Grover tuners, it won't let you down. Stripped Back Rock Machine To me, there is nothing nicer than a stripped back guitar. No glistening gold bits, posh binding or fancy flamey tops. Everything on this guitar is there simply for purpose and to me that is perfect! And of course not forgetting, there is always beauty in simplicity. The colours that Gibson has selected for the studio range (Cherry, Tangerine Burst, Smokehouse Burst and Ebony) perfectly complements the natural grain of the maple top and they partner wonderfully with the rosewood fingerboard. Ultra-Modern Weight Relief Gone are the days that you need to take a chiropractor with you whenever you want to take out your Les Paul thanks to the Ultra-Modern Weight Relief. Underneath the carved maple top is a series of hollowed-out chambers routed into the mahogany body. This drastically reduces the weight of the instrument insuring that its comfortable for the player night after night. 490R, 498T Pickups Gibson describes this pickup combo as the 'Modern Classic'. Its found in quite a number of instruments in their current catalogue. The pickups capture the essence of the legendary PAF pickups from the 50s and 60s however they have been slightly tweaked for the modern player. Firstly, they are waxed potted to ensure that there is never any issues with microphonic feedback when used with high levels of gain and secondly, they are made with 4 conductor wires so they can be used with a push/pull knob for coil splitting. The pickups are also voiced to have a slightly more accentuated upper mid-range so that no matter how much gain you're using, you always cut through. The 498T bridge pickup is slightly overwound for an even hotter sound. Part Exchange Your Guitar Looking to cash something in exchange for your Gibson Les Paul Studio? Gibson SG Standard 61 Vintage Cherry Electric Guitar Gibson SG Standard 61 Vintage Cherry Electric Guitar
£1,499.00

Gibson SG Standard 61 Vintage Cherry Electric Guitar The Gibson SG Standard '61 returns to the classic design that made it relevant, played and loved, shaping sound across generations and genres of music. In 1961, the Les Paul model was put on hiatus and an all new design evolved into what is today known as the SG or 'solid guitar'. The Gibson SG Standard '61 retains the styling of the original featuring a slim taper mahogany neck and a bound rosewood fingerboard. The mahogany body features deeply sculpted body scarfing, a 5-ply teardrop pickguard and a 22nd-fret neck joint. The nickel plated hardware includes a classic-style Tune-O-Matic bridge and keystone tuners. The pickups are 61R and 61T humbuckers for a classic voice with added power and top end. Controls feature audio taper potentiometers and orange drop capacitors.

Gibson SG Standard Ebony Electric Guitar S/N 127590355 6.50lb Part of Gibsons ‘Modern Collection’, the new Gibson SG Standard gives the authentic looks and features of the vintage SGs of the 60s but with a slight modern twist in the pickup department as well as a wonderfully comfortable Rounded Neck profile. The full-face black scratchplate and chrome hardware are as eye-catching as they are functional. It comes perfectly set up with 10-46 gauge strings and comes with a premium soft shell case. It's available in the classic Heritage Cherry as well as a beautiful Ebony finish. With a bound Rosewood fingerboard with acrylic trapezoid inlays, this really is an exceptional American made electric guitar at an exceptional price. Ready For Anything The SG Standard is ready for anything. It is regarded as one of the most versatile electrics ever made. Whether you play rock, pop, soul, blues, funk, metal, jazz or even gospel. The SG will have you covered. Incredibly lightweight and easy to handle and still full of sustain and bite. Long Tenon The Gibson SG Standard features a long tenon 19th fret joint. The shorter tenon joint of the early SGs can pose several issues to the guitar, particularly in regards to the strength and robustness to the neck. Gibson introduced the long tenon neck joint to SGs in the early 70s and it has been used ever since. Not only does it strengthen the neck join so that you have a more stable and reliable instrument but it also increased the amount of wood to wood contact in the neck pocket. This actually helps increase the sustain and gives a slightly bigger tone. 490 Pickups Described as Gibson as the ‘Modern Classic’ the 490 humbucker pickups take the foundational tone of beloved PAF pickup but tweaks the classic design for the modern player. Players today like gain and lots of it. The trouble with the original PAF design was the open air space in the pickup. It's this air space that actually helps cause microphonic feedback problems, specifically when used with tons of gain or a very loud gigging amp. The 490 pickups are wax potted so that there is no air space whatsoever. Another problem modern players also find with traditional styled humbuckers is the fact that they only have 2 conductor wires. People love and need versatility and therefore want humbuckers that they can coil-split for a single-coil sound. That means they need a 4 conductor pickup. The 490 pickups give you this option. The 490 pickups also give you a slight increase in the upper midrange to help you cut through the mix more as well as push your amp even harder. Gibson SG Standard Heritage Cherry Electric Guitar Part of Gibsons ‘Modern Collection’, the new Gibson SG Standard gives the authentic looks and features of the vintage SGs of the 60s but with a slight modern twist in the pickup department as well as a wonderfully comfortable Rounded Neck profile. Gibson SG Tribute Vintage Cherry Satin Electric Guitar S/N 126690107 6.70lb The Gibson SG tribute takes their classic SG design and strips down everything that could be deemed as unnecessary to create Gibsons most affordable American made workhorse electric guitar. Everything that's important has been left untouched. It has a beautifully crafted mahogany body with a pair of open-coil 490 pickups, a full face batwing pickguard and a Nashville Tune-O-Matic bridge with Aluminum Stop Bar Tailpiece. Differing slightly from other SG models, the tribute also features a Maple neck with a rounded profile however like other SG models, it does still feature a Rosewood fingerboard but with dot inlays. The SG tribute truly captures the authentic tone and feel of an expensive SG but at a fraction of the price. It's available in Vintage Cherry as well as Natural Walnut, both using a Satin Nitro finish. A Pro Grade instrument in every way, the SG Tribute truly holds its own in every scenario. The perfect guitar for players of all levels who are simply seeking an electric guitar that can perform to whatever standard or situation that the player throws at it. Flexibility is Key The Gibson SG is one of few electric guitar models that has helped influence a multitude of different genres in modern music. Introduced in 1961 the SG has found itself in everything from Gospel to Metal as well as a short stint in The Beatles and even Jazz Fusion. It's a guitar that's ready for anything and the Gibson SG Tribute is no different. Don't be fooled by its devilish aesthetics…whatever style your playing, this versatile workhorse can easily be dialed in to just about anything. Open-coil 490 Pickups At the heart of the Gibson SG Tribute is a set of Open-coil 490 pickups. A 490R in the neck and a 490T in the bridge. These Alnico II pickups are heavily influenced by the classic Gibson PAF humbucking pickups. They give you authentic vintage Gibson tones of the late 50s and 60s however, due to the fact that they are waxed potted there is no risk of any microphonic feedback when used with loud amps or tons of gain. The 490s are slightly overwound to give you a slight mid-range push and to really help you cut through any mix. Instead of the traditional 2 conductor design, the 490 pickups use 4 conductor wires so that you can optionally wire the pickups for coil splitting. The SG Tribute is however wired as standard in the traditional 2 volumes, 2 tones way without any push-pull switching, nevertheless it is nice to know the option is there should want to mod the guitar for increased versatility. The open-coil design not only looks great but also adds a touch of brightness to the tone. Finishing Touches The SG Tribute is perfectly finished off with Vintage Deluxe Tuners, a black 5 ply full face (batwing) pickguard and of course the gold silkscreened crown logo. It looks as good as it sounds and even comes with a Gibson Soft Shell Case. Part Exchange Your Guitar Looking to cash something in exchange for your Gibson SG?
