This allows for the vivid, richly-varied expression that reflects the limitless number of factors inherent in playing the piano.

Duplex scaling technology also enhances the resonance of the upper octave, and adds both brightness and body to the character of the high registers. Duplex scaling is found on high quality acoustic grand pianos, and the new Yamaha CLP600 series is the first digital piano range to emulate this important feature.

Yamaha CVP709GP Digital Grand Piano; Polished White

If you’ve got a bit of extra room and want an instrument that isn’t afraid to take centre stage in your décor, this supremely elegant digital baby grand piano in polished white is the answer. Not only does it look spectacular, but with a name you can trust embossed in gold on the front, you know it’s going to sound as good as it looks.

The Yamaha CVP709GP digital grand piano in white is a stunning instrument that recreates the sound of a grand right in your living room. Beautifully engineered and packed with a host of high-tech extras, this is an instrument that will be loved and enjoyed by musicians of all abilities as well as inspiring the next generation of players, thanks to its intuitive and user-friendly design.

Your very own ‘virtual’ teacher

The CVP709GP is designed to introduce new players to the joy of a grand by removing the sensation of intimidation that can often restrict a new player’s development. The unique Guide feature developed by Yamaha is specifically designed to expand your repertoire, note by note, by guiding you gently through a library of popular tunes. And don’t worry if you play the wrong note; the piano will wait while you reorientate yourself, giving you the confidence to advance as a player. The Follow Light feature makes it incredibly easy and intuitive to learn by quite literally ‘lighting the way’ for you!

You’ll also get access to the Piano Room, where you’ll find a selection of vintage piano voices and a complete range of different instruments to accompany you as you play. If you want the sensation of playing in an ensemble then the Accompaniment Styles will bring three virtual musicians right into your living room to play along with you. From cool Jazz to smoking hot Latin, a choice of recording-studio standard backing music embellishes and enhances every practice session, helping you to develop your skills as a player. You can even go for the full orchestral backing if you want to get that authentic classical performance feeling.

A great selection of extras

Easy to use, your full-colour LED display screen lets you access a huge library of tunes, styles and features, all designed to enhance your experience. As well as the Piano Room features you also get:

Other features in this exceptional instrument include:

  • 88 note graded hammer action keyboard with ivory feel and escapement for a realistic feel
  • 1787 instrument voices including 37 drum kits and 480 XG voices for MIDI recording and playback
  • Featured VRM and SuperArticulation voices are virtually indistinguishable from the real thing
  • 600 preset rhythm accompaniment styles
  • NWX (Natural Wood X) keyboard with synthetic ivory keytops
  • 124 preset songs
  • Microphone Controls/Inputs: Input Volume, Mic / Line In

One of the key features of the CVP709GP is the distinctive ‘voice’. Many digital instruments may be technologically advanced, but they suffer from a flat, two-dimensional ‘voice’. Fortunately, the Yamaha CVP709GP has been developed by one of the world’s leading musical instrument manufacturers, who also happens to be a world leader in electronics.

Yamaha have expertly sampled two of the world’s greatest grands – their very own CFX Concert piano and the mighty Bosendorfer Imperial Concert Grand – and expertly blended every single note and nuance to create a full, well-rounded and multi-layered voice, which they have then transferred into the heart of the CVP709GP. They’ve also made the keyboard out of specially harvested and carefully dried wood to create that deep resonance to give the sound that perfect, 3D effect. The result is a fully immersive experience that is as tactile as it is auditory, giving you the heart and soul of not one but two grand pianos.

Elegant curves, authentic sound and all the additional features you would expect from one of the world’s best digital pianos, the Yamaha CVP709GP digital grand piano is one of the best home-use musical instruments money can buy.

This ‘baby’ grand may be diminutive when compared to the full majesty of a nine-foot concert grand, but what it lacks in size it more than makes up for in quality and range. Not only does this piano pack in the voice of two concert grands, it is also fitted with the latest technology to create an instrument that delivers a memorable player experience.

A unique voice

Yamaha has spent over a century creating some of the finest grand pianos in the world. They are also leaders when it comes to technological and electronic innovation. Combining these two facets, they’ve come up with a technique to sample the voices of two of the world’s greatest grands and use them in the CVP709GP, giving you a digital piano with an authentic acoustic voice.

How they did it Ensuring that both instruments were expertly tuned before beginning, Yamaha then asked award-winning virtuoso performers to play their own renowned CFX Concert Grand, and the imposing Bosendorfer Imperial Concert Grand. Both instruments are regarded as exceptional, with the CFX having bright, versatile upper octaves, while the Bosendorfer has a reputation for a powerful lower register that fills a concert hall with a soundscape that’s rich and deep. Every note of each piano was sampled and blended together to extract the essence of both pianos, and then transposed into the Clavinova range of pianos to give them an authentic acoustic voice. And because the CVP709GP is a digital piano it will never need tuning, meaning every note is pitch perfect, every time you press the key.

A total Grand Experience

Playing a grand piano isn’t just about the sound – it’s about the tactile experience too. So to replicate this as accurately as possible, Yamaha have incorporated some groundbreaking design features into the CVP709GP, including a NWX (Natural Wood X) keyboard, crafted from natural wood that has been dried specifically for use in musical instruments. This minimises the risk of warping or twisting, and gives it that resonance you only get with natural wood. Other makers may compromise by using laminates, but Yamaha knows the materials used to construct the body are an integral part of the character and sound of the instrument. A damper system that mimics the exact motion of a full-size grand creates a well-rounded sound on both depression and key-off, authenticating the pitch and timbre of every note. A synthetic ivory keyboard gives you that essential tactile experience, with every key correctly weighted to respond to the lightest of touches.

Perfect for beginners

Don’t be intimidated by the CVP709GP’s grand aspirations – this is very much a piano that’s user friendly and perfect for beginners. It incorporates the unique Guide feature that is a ‘virtual’ teacher guiding you through a library of popular tunes. Enhance the experience by using the Piano Room’s Accompaniment Styles bringing virtual musicians right into your living room with you. If you’re just starting your musical journey then the Follow Light feature gently guides you through pre-programmed tunes, even waiting for you to correct mistakes as you go.

When you’re playing piano, it provides full-bodied, volume-controllable sound through the 4.1 multi-channel speakers. When you’re entertaining friends, Bluetooth audio functionality allows the piano to replace your hi-fi, wirelessly connecting to your tablet or smartphone and playing your favorite songs and playlists through the speakers. This natural reverberation is replicated perfectly in the CLP665GP digital grand piano through Virtual Resonance Modeling (VRM), which calculates the various states of the strings for each of the 88 notes on the keyboard from one instant to next.

A great selection of extras

Other features in this exceptional instrument include:
