Yamaha YDP-S34 is a superb entry-level digital piano from the Worlds leading manufacturer of musical instruments. The YDP-S34 is a feature-packed piano housed in a contemporary designed small-footprint cabinet and is ideal for family living spaces or bedrooms. Available in three distinct colours - satin black, satin white or the contemporary satin white ash effect, the YDP-S34 adds elegance to any room whilst providing a traditional piano playing experience. Digital Piano Buying Advice For Beginners The most important points to consider when buying a digital piano are: Sound Keyboard Feel Price Other features Lets take each one of these points in turn and explain how the Yamaha YDP-S34 could be the right beginners digital piano for your needs: Sound At the heart of the YDP-S34 is the stunning piano sound of the Yamaha CFX Concert grand. The CFX is one of the most respected concert grand pianos which is used in concert halls and venues all over the World. Yamaha have sampled (recorded) the sound of this mighty instrument and it is this sound that you hear when you are playing the YDP-S34. Keyboard Feel Possibly more important that the sound produced is the feel of the keyboard. An acoustic piano has wooden keys which in turn move hammers that strike steel strings. Piano keys have a fair amount of resistance and require pressure to push them down. Digital pianos produce their sound electronically and do not need hammers or strings to create the sound. To give the same playing experience as an acoustic instrument, digital pianos need to simulate the same keyboard feel resistance - this is usually achieved by using a combination of weights and springs. The Yamaha YDP-S34 not only has weighted keys but they are also graded hammer keys, which means the keys in the bottom register of the piano require a little more pressure to play than those in the top octaves - this is true to an acoustic grand piano. Price The YDP-S34 is an entry level digital piano and is one of the best performers in its price bracket for both playability and useful features. Other Features The YDP-S34 not only has the beautiful Yamaha CFX Concert Grand piano voice, it also has two other acoustic piano voices and six other instrument sounds for you to play different styles of music. YDP-S34 Voice List CFX Grand Piano Grand Piano 2 Grand Piano 3 E.Piano 1 E.Piano 2 Harpsichord Vibraphone Pipe Organ Jazz Organ Strings Practice Through Speakers Or Headphones The YDP-S34 has built in 2 x 8watt speakers, but for times when you want to practice without disturbing neighbours or others in the household, it is possible to plug in headphones for silent practice. Record Your Performance The two track recording feature allows the player to either record a complete performance and then overdub a second track (you can use a different voice for this if you wish). Or, you can use this useful feature when learning a piece of music to record one hand first, and then practice your other hand whilst playback of the part you have already recorded. Dual Voice Mode It is possible to layer two voices together on the YDP-S34 to create popular combinations such as Piano/Strings or Pipe Organ/Harpsichord. The balance (volume) of each voice can be altered to suit your taste. USB Connectivity Connect the YDP-S34 to your computer or smart device using the USB to host connection. All you need is a standard USB cable (plus an Apple Camera Kit if using an iPad). This allows you to widen the possibilities for musical creation via a third-party software application, or through use of the Yamaha Smart Pianist app. Number Of Keys: 88 Keyboard Type: Graded Hammer Standard with Matte Black Keytops Number of voices: 10 (3 piano voices) Polyphony: 192 notes Piano Sound: Yamaha CFX Effects: Reverb / Damper Resonance Number Of Recordable Songs: 1 Recording Tracks: 2 Dual Voice Mode Intelligent Acoustic Control 3 Pedals USB To Host Headphone outputs x 2 Amplifier 8watts x 2 Speakers: YES Dimensions: 1353mm (w) x 296mm (d) x 792mm (h) Weight: 35.9 KG

Both stores have on-site parking and you can compare the YDP144 with alternative instruments from other manufacturers. The Yamaha YDP144 offers excellent sound quality in its price category and the Yamaha Smart Pianist app simplifies the operation of this instrument via your smartphone or tablet device. The half-damping sustain pedal is a first for an entry-level piano. Tony White - Bonners Piano Specialist 88 Note Weighted Keyboard One of the most important aspects when choosing a piano is the 'feel' of the keyboard. In this respect, the YDP144 delivers a full length 88 note keyboard which is weighted slightly heavier in the lower register and lighter in the top octaves - just like an acoustic grand piano. This keyboard action is known as the Yamaha Graded Hammer Standard (GHS) action. High Quality Piano Sound The sound of a digital piano is derived from a recording (known as a sample) of a traditional acoustic instrument. The main piano sound produced by the YDP144 is that of the beautiful Yamaha CFX concert grand - a truly flagship instrument which is popular amongst concert pianists and recording artists across the globe. There are variations on the piano sounds which are suitable for different styles of music, including a mellow piano for soft classical and romantic music, and a brighter tone which is ideal for jazz and contemporary music. The YDP144 is also equipped with a variety of other useful sounds including E.Piano, Organs, Strings, Harpsichord and Vibraphone. Layer Two Voices For Even More Sound Variations It is possible to layer two voices together to create beautiful sound textures such as Piano & Strings, Harpsichord & organ etc. In fact, you can layer any two voices together. Check out our demonstration video to hear this feature in action! Three Foot Pedals - Just Like A Grand Piano A grand piano is fitted with three foot pedals - sustain (loud pedal), soft pedal and sostenuto pedal. The YDP144 is equipped with all three of these pedals, and in a first for a piano of this price range, the sustain pedal allows for half-damping which means that sustain length is appropriate to how far down the pedal is pressed. Two-track Recording The YDP144 has a useful recording facility which is two tracks. This means that you can either record one sound (such as a piano), and then 'overdub' another sound over the top, or you could record each 'hand' separately to aid practice of challenging pieces or music passages. Metronome Built-In When learning the piano, a metronome helps with timing and speed. There is no need to purchase an additional piece of equipment because the YDP144 is equipped with a built-in metronome which offers various different time signatures and tempos. Dedicated iOS & Android Controller App Yamaha's Smart Pianist app for portable devices allows the user to control the features of the instrument using a touchscreen interface. This simplifies operation and allows access to sound selection, layering, recording, metronome, transpose and other functions. A USB cable is required (not supplied), or for wireless Bluetooth operation, additional Yamaha MD-BT01 Bluetooth interface (available separately). Yamaha YDP164 Arius Digital Piano; Black Yamaha YDP164 Arius Digital Piano; Black new
£1,130.00
Yamaha YDP164 Digital Piano The Yamaha YDP164 is the flagship model in the Yamaha Arius range of digital pianos. Combining a very high-quality keyboard action, the sound of the CFX concert grand, plus an upgraded speaker system, the YDP-164 is a cut above the lower range YDP models. See & Play the YDP164 in our Piano Showrooms Bonners keeps the YDP164 on display in both of our piano stores which are located in Surrey (Reigate) and Eastbourne (East Sussex). Both locations have plenty of on-site parking and you can compare the YDP164 with pianos from other manufacturers to make sure that you are making the right choice when buying a new piano. The YDP164 offers features which were only ever available in Yamaha's higher-priced Clavinova series. The GH3 action is a tried & tested favourite, and the bigger amplification/speaker configuration makes this piano sound much more full-bodied than the lower YDP144 model. Tony White - Bonners Piano Specialist Authentic Keyboard Feel A traditional acoustic grand piano has 88 keys and the YDP164 is exactly the same! Furthermore the Yamaha Graded Hammer 3 (GH3) keyboard is slightly heavier in the lower registers and lighter in the upper octaves - again just like a grand piano. The keytops have a textured surface to prevent fingers from slipping during a performance and have a feel which is akin to the ebony and ivory surfaces found on older acoustic pianos. The Sound Of The Yamaha CFX Concert Grand A digital piano produces the sound which is derived from a recording of an acoustic piano - this is known as 'sampling'. Yamaha has recorded the sound of their full size 9' concert grand piano known as the CFX. This recording provides the piano tone produced by the YDP164 and combined with an excellent amplification system, the result is stunning. As well as the standard CFX piano voice, there are two other variations on this tone which are ideally suited for playing different styles of music. The Mellow Grand tone is great for romantic classics, whilst the Bright Piano is perfect for Jazz & Pop piano pieces. More Than Just A Piano! As well as the CFX piano sounds, the YDP164 is equipped with a number of other useful keyboard & orchestral tones which can be combined (layered) to create a huge variety of combinations. A total of 10 voices include e.piano, strings, harpsichord, organs and vibraphone. Grand Piano Pedal Experience There are three foot pedals on the YDP164 which operate the same as those found on a traditional acoustic grand piano. Sustain, sostenuto and soft pedals. The sustain pedal also allows for half-damping Enhanced Headphone Output For many people, the attraction of a digital piano is the ability to practice using headphones - this means you can enjoy the instrument without disturbing others in your household or neighbouring properties. The headphone output of the YDP164 is further enhanced with the use of the Stereophonic Optimizer. This provides a more special experience when using headphones and the sound appears to be coming from the body of the piano rather than straight out of the earphones. Connectivity To Smart Devices & Computers The standard USB connection is perfect for connecting to a computer for use with your favourite recording or scorewriting software. Alternatively, this socket can be used to plug into your iOS / Android tablet or mobile phone to make use of the many hundreds of music making apps on the market. A popular choice of App is Yamaha's own Smart Pianist which facilitates easy operation of the piano functions through the touchscreen of your portable device. Onboard Recording & Metronome The YDP164 features an onboard recording facility which is two track. This means you can either use it for overdub style recording with two different voices or for practising difficult musical passages by recording both hands independently - a way that many piano teachers encourage students to learn new pieces. Four Colour Options There are four different cabinet clour options available in the YDP164 range: Black White Rosewood White Ash YDP164 Features At A Glance The rich sound of a Yamaha CFX concert grand GH3 keyboard with synthetic ivory (white keys) and ebony (black keys) Damper resonance/ String resonance Smooth release & key off sampling "Smart Pianist" iOS app integration New gentle design and wide colour variation selection Stereophonic optimizer 3 pedals (Damper with half pedal effect, sostenuto and soft) 192-note polyphony 3 pedals (Damper with half pedal effect, sostenuto and soft)
