Yamaha AvantGrand N3x Hybrid Digital Grand Piano

With the new AvantGrand N3x, Yamaha have bridged the gap between acoustic and digital pianos. It has long been said that the infinite expression players feel when performing on an acoustic piano is not possible to re-create with a digital instrument. Enter the new AvantGrand N3x from Yamaha. Here at Bonners, our staff believe this is simply the very best digital piano they have ever played.

Keyboard Action

The N3x features real wooden keys with Ivorite keytops – these keys look and feel just like those found on acoustic instruments. The key action is taken from Yamaha’s exquisite range of concert grand pianos, to give you the same response and expression as an acoustic piano. The key weighting is exactly the same as than found on a grand piano, and the non-contact optical sensors ensure that the electronics do not interfere with the performance of the instrument in any way.

The N3x features two world-class pianos in one instrument – each with its own character and identity for different styles and music tastes. Starting with the superb Yamaha CFX Concert Grand, this piano has a beautiful, crystal clear tone across the range – sparkling highs and deep, resonant bass tones. The second instrument featured in the N3x is the mighty Bosendorfer Imperial. The Imperial is a beautifully expressive, warm voiced piano and sounds wonderful for romantic classical performances.

Both of these excellent piano sounds are further enhanced through the four-channel Spatial Acoustic Speaker System and Soundboard Resonator located beneath the music rest. Unique to the N3x is the speaker placement. Yamaha engineers have cleverly positioned the speakers in the same places as the microphones were placed when recording the source piano sound. This results in the player receiving the closest possible recreation of an acoustic piano.

Tactile Response System

The Tactile Reposnse System enhances the physical sensation that the player feels when performing on the N3x digital grand piano. Acoustic pianos feel “alive” and the player subconsciously feels vibrations and resonance through their fingertips and even the pedals. The TRS recreates these feelings through the use of tiny electronic motors that vibrate in accordance with the tone of the piano. We recommend that you try this feature for yourself – it’s extremely effective and it even works when headphones are in use too!

Record Your Performance

The on-board audio recorder allows you to record your performance in beautiful uncompressed WAV format, direct to a USB flash drive. Listen to your playing through the on-board speaker system or share the WAV file with your friends, family, or even upload them to your favourite digital music sharing website.

Finance Options

Start owning the musical instrument you want now, today!

If you're set on buying your new instrument, there's no need to get weighed down by the total cost of it straight away. How To Apply For Finance

How it works

The finance options available are displayed on the individual product pages.

Pay a fixed deposit, depending on the price of the purchase. The rest is split into monthly payments up to three years. At the end of your contract when you've made your final payment, the instrument or equipment is all yours. You could own that dream guitar, drum kit or piano sooner than you thought!

Finance is available for selected new and used instruments.

Which Finance Options Are Available?

Most products on our website show the available finance options. Some are interest free, and some are interest bearing. Yamaha AvantGrand N2 Hybrid Digital Piano Yamaha AvantGrand N2 Hybrid Digital Piano
£3,234.00 off RRP
Pre-Order Now
Yamaha AvantGrand N2 Hybrid Digital Piano Yamaha have certainly pushed the boundaries of excellence when it comes to digital/acoustic hybrid pianos, and at the top of their range are the AvantGrand digital pianos. In this family of three superior pianos sits the N2, a futuristic digital instrument that also holds on to its identity as a grand. Outstanding quality, superior sound The AvantGrand N2 Hybrid digital piano’s greatest asset has to be the quality of the sound. Normally, digital instruments – no matter how well made – tend to sound ‘digital’, losing that warmth and depth of sound, range and timbre that you get with a traditional instrument that relies on a hammer system. However, because Yamaha have incorporated exceptional quality speakers into the soundboard itself, and retained a unique specialised grand piano action, the result is a well-rounded sound that responds to the touch of the pianist, whether the piece calls for bombastic energy or the subtlest of touches. The Specialized Grand Piano Action in more detail So how does it work? Well, rather than moving away from the benefits of a traditional grand, the digital N2 incorporates them into its structure to give the player a fully authentic experience. The action features the same configuration as a grand, as well as a full 88-key keyboard. The hammers strike the ‘strings’ from underneath, so that tiny weight distribution adjustments affect the motion of the hammers themselves, creating that authentic ‘grand’ sound. This results in a much smoother feel too, and a more responsive keyboard that allows the player to transfer the nuances and subtle adjustments that classical music calls for. In addition to the hammer sensor, it also uses a non-contact key sensor that doesn’t impede on the action of the keys, but enhances the sensitivity of the instrument to the touch of the player. The AvantGrand N2 is definitely focused around the player experience, granting enhanced feedback for a more immersive playing sensation. Tactile Response The advantage of a digital instrument over a traditional acoustic one is that you have the opportunity to embellish the instrument with a wealth of features, and in this aspect the N2 doesn’t disappoint. The N2 includes various piano sounds, as was as a four-channel, multi-speaker system. The integral use of the soundboard ensures that the resonance of the bass notes in particular, reverberates through the instrument and the player’s body, so you can literally ‘feel’ the music for a superior experience. The Tactile Response System (TRS) is unique to the Yamaha range and focuses on reproducing this reverberation effect to its fullest. It does it by using two transducers in the soundboard, so that the reverberation is transmitted directly back to the keys and consequently to the fingers of the player. It also sends the reverberations down through the instrument so that the player will also experience them when they depress the pedals, creating an authentic playing experience. Because the system is a haptic vibration feedback system that’s calibrated to the note frequencies, the effect is much more realistic. This is what puts the AvantGrand range above the majority of digital pianos – the authenticity of the playing experience. It’s literally as close to the real thing as you can get without actually lifting the lid on a genuine acoustic grand! Never out of tune One of the major advantages of a digital instrument is that, unlike its acoustic cousins, it never goes out of tune. So for intermediate home players who want consistency of tone and sound, it’s a winner. The N2 is also relatively compact compared to a full grand – you don’t need a mansion to house an N2, making it ideal for home use. However, it has a depth and richness of timbre that makes it perfectly acceptable for performance playing as well. Put simply, the N2 may be the ‘middle child’ of the AvantGrand range, but it’s probably one of the most versatile instruments on the market today. Additional features At Bonners, we’re delighted to be able to offer discerning customers access to the AvantGrand N2 Hybrid digital piano, which comes with a matching adjustable height piano stool, free headphones for those private practice sessions, and a 5-year warranty for total peace of mind. Our specially trained team will also deliver and install the piano to your home address. A player’s piano The N2 is very much a player’s piano, designed to enhance the experience of playing, whether your passion is jazz and contemporary or traditional classical music. With MIDI and USB connections and a comprehensive library to call upon, it also allows you to experiment and push the limits of your creativity. If you want to take your music to the next level, the N2 doesn’t just allow you to expand your skills, it positively encourages you to do so!
