Kawai Novus NV5 Hybrid Piano

Following in the footsteps of the flagship Novus NV10 model with grand piano keyboard action, the Kawai NV5 is a high quality digital piano fitted with the piano keyboard of a traditional upright acoustic piano. The combination of Kawai's very best digital piano sound engine along with authentic keyboard action results in an exquisite playing experience that a traditional digital piano cannot match.

The introduction of the Novus NV5 brings Kawai's hybrid piano experience to a wider audience. The keyboard touch is one of the most accurate you will find in a digital instrument whilst the Kawai touchscreen operating system ensures there's plenty of technology available for players who want to delve deeper into their musical creativity.

BUY ONLINE OR TRY THE NV5 IN OUR STORES
Before we tell you any more about this wonderful new piano, we wanted to let you know that you can either buy online or come and try the Kawai Novus NV5 in our stores. Our digital piano centres are located in Eastbourne (Sussex), Reigate (Surrey), Milton Keynes - very close to the M1 motorway.

Millennium III Hybrid upright piano keyboard action
The Kawai Novus NV5 has a piano keyboard which is very similar in design and construction to that found in a traditional acoustic upright piano. The keyboard weighting and sensitivity replicates that of an acoustic instrument, which means that it should be easy to transition from one instrument to another.

The Novus NV5 is one of the very best digital instruments on the market for practicing for exams, performances and recitals, as well as being the perfect instrument for beginners who want to learn piano but require the convenient functions of a digital instrument.

The optical hammer sensing system ensures that every nuance and subtlety of your performance is replicated by the instrument.

Real upright piano damper mechanism for true key and pedal weighting
When using the damper pedal on an acoustic piano, the weighting of the keyboard is slightly reduced. The Novus NV5 is the only upright Hybrid Piano which faithfully replaces this behaviour and adds to the overall authenticity of the musical experience.

SK-EX Rendering sound engine with multi-channel piano sampling
Kawai have been manufacturing Acoustic pianos for over 90 years, and their latest flagship instrument is the magnificent Shigeru Kawai SK-EX Concert Grand. Kawai have meticulously sampled (recorded) the sound of the SK-EX Concert Grand using multi-channel recording techniques and it is this sound which you hear when you first play the NV5. There are, of course, a huge range of different piano tones for a wide range of musical tastes, plus other voices such as E.PIano, Harpsichord, Strings, Organ and more. The NV5 is certainly versatile and it allows you to practice both traditional acoustic piano music, as well as being more creative by using the other instrument voices.

Premium audio processing, amplification, and speaker technologies powered by Onkyo
With such beautiful instrument voices present in the NV5, Kawai needed an audio system to do justice to their new instrument. In 2017, Kawai partnered with high-end hifi audio manufacturer Onkyo to produce the amplification systems in their prestigious musical instruments. The NV5 features a massive 135W (45W x 3) Onkyo amplification system which drives the TwinDrive Soundboard Speaker System and 8 cm x 4 (Onkyo top speakers) plus 2 cm x 2 (Onkyo dome tweeters).

3rd generation TwinDrive Soundboard Speaker system featuring Onkyo transducers
The voice of an acoustic piano is produced by means of a wooden soundboard at the rear of the instrument which vibrates and envelopes the player in sound. Kawai has replicated the natural ambience of an acoustic instrument by implementing a Soundboard Speaker System into their higher range models, including the novus NV5. There are small internal speakers mounted on to the soundboard at the back of the NV5, which amplify the sound of the piano through the natural wood. This results in a more 'open' and resonant sound than that of digital pianos equipped with a standard stereo speaker system.

Integrated Bluetooth MIDI and audio for wireless communication with smart devices
Tradition meets the future with the Novus NV5. it is possible to stream audio from your smart device or computer using wireless bluetooth technology. The sound of your favourite tracks is enhanced with the combination of Onkyo amplification and Kawai Soundboard Speaker system.

Bluetooth MIDI compatibility enables the connection of the piano to your favourite recording apps & software - all completely wirelessly.

Touchscreen Interface
The Novus NV5 is operated by using the familiar and modern 5 LCD touchscreen display. The display hides when not in use and blends into the shiny black finish of the Novus cabinet to retain the piano's traditional appearance.

Virtual Technician - Customise Your Piano
The popular Virtual Technician function allows access to 19 adjustable parameters such as Voicing (incl. 88-key User Voicing), Damper Resonance, Damper Noise, String Resonance, Cabinet Resonance, Tuning, Touch and a large number of other technical details which allow you to create your own unique piano sound. It is possible to store your own piano voices to the memory of the NV5 for instant recall.

Record Your performance
There's nothing more pleasing than to be able to record your performance and listen back - whether for pleasure, or for checking your progress when learning difficult musical passages. The Kawai Novus NV5 has a convenient WAV/MP3/MIDI file record and playback facility which records directly to USB memory (not supplied). This makes sharing your music with family and friends extremely simple.

A Hybrid Piano usually refers to a digital piano that has the keyboard action and mechanism taken from a traditional acoustic piano. This results in a more authentic touch and musical experience for the player when comapred with traditional digital-only pianos. The sound is generated electronically, so Hybrid pianos never require tuning and the other regular maintenance associated with acoustic pianos. Hybrid pianos such as the Kawai Novus NV10 allow the use of headphones for the times when you want ot practice without disturbing other people in the household or neighbouring properties. Quite simply, the Novus NV10 gives you all the benfits of a digital piano, whilst retaining the delicate, responsive touch of a traditional acoustic grand. Keyboard Action, Hammers & Dampers The felt hammers in the NV10's action have been replaced with ABS equivalents, and are individually graded in weight form the bass register to the treble, resulting in long-lasting reliability without compromising performance. Optical sensors take the place of the piano strings, and accurately measure the velocity and speed of the hammer movements to give a ensure a natural response is achieved by the performing musician. The NV10 is the first Hybrid piano from any manufacturer to feature a real grand piano damper mechanism. Although there are no strings in the NV10, the inclusion of traditional felt dampers reproduces the weighting of a grand piano sustain pedal, and also eases the keyboard's resistance when the pedal is pressed. This particular feature is unique to the Kawai NOVUS NV10 and has not been included in hybrid pianos from other manufacturers. Sound Reproduction The NOVUS NV10 features the sound of the Shigeru Kawai SK-EX concert grand piano. This particular piano is one of the finest grand pianos in the World, and is authentically recreated in the NV10. This piano sound is used in other high-performance Kawai digital pianos, but in the NOVUS NV10, it is further enhanced by 1-bit processing, premium dual DACs, and DIDRC filter and amplification technology powered by Japan’s leading high-end audio manufacturer, Onkyo. Complimentary First Piano TuningAlthough the instrument is tuned before leaving our showroom, we want you to be completely happy with your new piano, so we arrange an initial first tuning completely free of charge. After your new piano has been delivered, we will arrange for a tuner to visit you and tune the instrument in your home. Complimentary tuning must be completed within 8 weeks of the piano being delivered. Part ExchangeDo you already own a piano that you would like to trade-in for a new instrument?
