Information on the guitar
A faithful evolution of the iconic Country Gentleman, the Gretsch G6122II blends timeless design with modern advancements for today’s discerning player. Part of the esteemed Professional Collection, this model is crafted to meet the highest standards of tone, playability, and aesthetic refinement. With a double-cutaway hollow body and a smooth gloss urethane finish in classic Walnut Stain, the G6122II is as striking visually as it is sonically inspiring.
At the heart of this model is a 17-inch-wide laminated maple body with open-style f-holes, offering rich, resonant tones with excellent clarity and a bold presence. The arched laminated maple top adds definition and brightness, while the 2.25-inch body depth keeps it lightweight and comfortable without sacrificing acoustic depth. A three-piece maple neck is joined at the 18th fret to allow effortless access to upper registers, making the G6122II ideal for lead playing and expressive solos across the full 25.5" scale.
Equipped with a pair of High Sensitive Filter’Tron™ pickups, this guitar delivers a classic Gretsch voice—articulate, warm, and balanced, with just the right amount of bite. A three-way pickup selector switch and individual volume controls for each pickup are complemented by a master volume and a three-position master tone switch, offering nuanced tonal control. From the classic chime of Position 2 to the full-throttle bite of Position 1 and the smooth roll-off in Position 3, the G6122II is capable of everything from Chet Atkins-style fingerpicking to driving rock rhythms.
The ebony fingerboard features a 12" radius and is adorned with Neo-Classic™ thumbnail inlays, delivering a smooth, fast-playing surface with vintage elegance. With 22 frets and a 1-11/16" nut width, players will appreciate the ease of navigation and precise intonation aided by the adjustable truss rod. Hardware is finished in stunning gold plating, including the Grover® Rotomatic tuners, knurled strap retainers, and the eye-catching gold-plated name plate on the headstock.
Tuning stability and expressive vibrato come courtesy of the classic Bigsby® B6G vibrato tailpiece, paired with an ebony-based Adjusto-Matic™ bridge that ensures rock-solid intonation. The bound fingerboard and headstock, multiple body bindings, gold plexi pickguard, and professional-grade appointments all speak to Gretsch’s attention to detail and commitment to legacy craftsmanship.
