76 Semi-Weighted Keys: The Ideal Balance

At the heart of the Yamaha CK76 is a newly developed 76-note FSB semi-weighted keyboard action, offering a comfortable, responsive playing experience particularly suited to electric pianos and organs.

The additional keys provide more room for two-handed playing and greater flexibility when creating keyboard splits and layers.

Unlike the fully weighted hammer-action keyboard found on the CK88, the CK76's semi-weighted action is designed to accommodate a wider variety of playing styles, from expressive electric piano performances to fast organ passages and synthesiser solos.

For musicians who find 61 keys too restrictive but prefer something lighter and more portable than an 88-note keyboard, the CK76 offers an excellent alternative.

Professional Yamaha Piano and Electric Piano Sounds

The Yamaha CK76 shares its sound library with the established CK61 and CK88, drawing on Yamaha's acclaimed CP stage piano and YC stage keyboard technology.

Its acoustic piano collection includes the Yamaha CFX concert grand, S700 grand piano, U1 upright piano and Live CF3, providing a wide range of piano sounds for different musical styles.

The electric piano section features vintage tine and reed electric pianos, Clavinets and classic FM electric piano sounds.

Four New Electric Pianos with CK OS 2.0

The CK76 introduces four additional electric piano Voices as part of Yamaha's CK OS 2.0:

  • 67Rd Dark: A warm, mellow vintage tine electric piano.
  • 67Rd Bright: A brighter, more cutting version of the classic tine piano sound.
  • 74Rd Stage: An edgy 1970s-style tine electric piano that works particularly well in a band.
  • Wr Wide: A characterful reed electric piano with a wide dynamic range.

These additional instruments expand the CK76's tonal possibilities, particularly for players performing jazz, blues, soul, funk and classic pop.

Authentic Organ Sounds with Physical Drawbars

The Yamaha CK76 features a dedicated organ section with physical drawbar controls, allowing musicians to shape organ registrations in real time.

Five organ models are available through Yamaha's AWM Organ Flutes sound engine, with dedicated controls for rotary speaker simulation, percussion, vibrato and chorus.

These hands-on controls make it easy to create everything from warm jazz organ sounds to powerful rock and gospel registrations.

The ability to adjust drawbars and rotary speaker effects whilst playing is particularly valuable for live performers who want to make expressive changes without navigating menus.

Synthesiser, String, Brass and Other Instrument Sounds

Beyond its piano and organ capabilities, the Yamaha CK76 includes an extensive collection of instrument Voices covering synthesiser leads, pads, orchestral strings, brass, woodwind, guitars, basses and more.

With 367 Voices in total, the CK76 provides the sounds needed for a wide variety of musical applications.

This makes it an especially practical choice for covers bands, function bands, theatre musicians and performers who need to switch between different instrument sounds throughout a show.

Hands-On Controls for Live Performance

One of the defining features of the Yamaha CK series is its straightforward, performance-focused control panel.

Rather than relying on complicated menus, the CK76 provides dedicated physical controls for the functions musicians use most often.

Filter cutoff, resonance, envelope settings, effects, organ drawbars and master EQ can all be adjusted directly from the front panel.

This allows sounds to be shaped quickly and intuitively during a performance.

Each sound Part has independent volume control, making it easy to balance layered instruments or bring different sounds into a performance.

Three-Part Layering and Advanced Split Mode

The Yamaha CK76 can combine up to three independent sound Parts, providing extensive flexibility for live performance.

Musicians can layer acoustic piano and strings, combine electric piano with a synthesiser pad, or split the keyboard to play different instruments with each hand.

The new Advanced Split Mode, introduced with CK OS 2.0, takes this further.

Two split points allow the keyboard to be divided into left, centre and right sections. Each of the three sound Parts can be assigned to one or more of these ranges.

For example, a player could create a performance sound featuring bass in the lower register, electric piano across the middle and a synthesiser lead in the upper register.

The CK76's extended 76-note range makes these arrangements particularly practical, providing more playing space than a traditional 61-note keyboard.

Save Your Sounds with Live Set Memories

The Yamaha CK76 provides 160 Live Set memory locations, allowing performers to store complete sound configurations for instant recall.

A Live Set can contain instrument selections, keyboard splits, layers, effects and other performance settings.

The 160 locations comprise 96 overwritable preset memories and 64 user memories.

CK OS 2.0 also introduces 16 additional preset Live Set sounds.

For gigging musicians, Live Sets are invaluable for organising sounds in advance and quickly switching between different arrangements during a performance.

Built-In Stereo Speakers and Battery Operation

Unlike many professional stage keyboards, the Yamaha CK76 includes its own stereo speaker system.

The built-in speakers provide 6 watts per channel, allowing the instrument to be played without connecting an external amplifier or PA system.

This is particularly convenient for practising at home, rehearsals, songwriting and informal performances.

The CK76 can also run on eight AA batteries, providing the freedom to play in locations without access to mains electricity.

For larger performances, the keyboard can be connected to an external sound system.

The combination of built-in speakers, battery operation and lightweight construction makes the CK76 an exceptionally flexible portable instrument.

Microphone Input, Bluetooth Audio and USB Connectivity

The Yamaha CK76 offers a useful selection of audio and MIDI connections for live performance and music production.

Microphone and External Audio Input

A stereo A/D input can accommodate microphones, external instruments and other audio sources, with selectable microphone or line input sensitivity.

Dedicated input processing includes EQ, noise gate and additional effects.

This allows a microphone or external instrument to be mixed with the CK76's internal sounds, making it particularly useful for solo performers and musicians working with additional equipment.

Bluetooth Audio

Built-in Bluetooth Audio connectivity allows music to be streamed wirelessly from a compatible smartphone or tablet.

This is ideal for practising along with backing tracks, rehearsing songs or listening to music through the CK76's speakers.

Bluetooth connectivity is for audio input rather than Bluetooth MIDI.

USB Audio and MIDI

The CK76 includes a USB audio and MIDI interface, allowing it to be connected to a computer for recording and music production.

Compatibility with Yamaha's Rec'n'Share app and Soundmondo platform provides additional opportunities for recording, sharing and managing sounds.

Powerful Effects and Sound Shaping

The Yamaha CK76 offers 51 effect types, providing extensive sound-shaping possibilities.

Each of its three instrument Parts can use dedicated effects, including drive, rotary speaker simulation, modulation and other processing options.

Additional delay and reverb effects can be applied to the overall sound, whilst the master EQ allows the final output to be adjusted to suit different amplification systems and performance environments.

Dedicated front-panel controls make it easy to experiment with effects without interrupting a performance.

Lightweight, Portable and Ready to Perform

Despite its extended 76-note keyboard, the Yamaha CK76 weighs just 6.7kg.

Its slim design makes it easy to transport between rehearsals, venues and recording sessions.

For additional protection when travelling, Yamaha offers the optional SC-DE76 soft carrying case, designed specifically for the CK76.

Yamaha CK61 vs CK76 vs CK88: What's the Difference?

All three instruments in Yamaha's CK stage keyboard range share the same sound library and intuitive control system. The main differences are the keyboard actions, number of keys, physical size and weight.

  • Yamaha CK61: 61-note FSB keyboard, weighing 5.6kg. Ideal for players prioritising portability, organ and synthesiser playing.
  • Yamaha CK76: 76-note semi-weighted FSB keyboard, weighing 6.7kg. Suited to all-round keyboard players wanting a wider range without extra weight.
  • Yamaha CK88: 88-note weighted GHS keyboard, weighing 13.1kg. Designed for piano-focused musicians who prefer a weighted keyboard action.

The CK76 occupies the middle ground, offering significantly more playing range than the CK61 whilst remaining considerably lighter than the CK88.

Who Is the Yamaha CK76 Designed For?

The Yamaha CK76 is particularly well suited to performing musicians who need a versatile instrument covering multiple keyboard sounds.

Its combination of semi-weighted keys, physical organ controls, flexible splits and lightweight construction makes it an appealing choice for:

  • Live keyboard players who need piano, organ, synth and orchestral sounds in one instrument.
  • Covers and function bands requiring quick sound changes and flexible keyboard splits.
  • Soul, funk, blues and jazz musicians who regularly use vintage electric piano and organ sounds.
  • Songwriters and home musicians who appreciate built-in speakers and battery-powered operation.
  • Studio musicians looking for a portable keyboard with professional sounds and USB audio/MIDI connectivity.
