A next-generation digital piano, the Roland LX9 is designed to replicate the response and playing experience of a premium acoustic instrument. As the flagship model in Roland's LX series, the LX9 benefits from Roland’s considerable digital piano design and manufacturing experience.
Spectacular sound and multiple voices
The LX9 makes the most of Roland's innovative Piano Reality Modelling sound engine, which provides authentic grand piano sound and response with unlimited polyphony. Here, the use of larger samples results in a notable improvement on the synthetic sound modelling found in the older LX700 range and previous generations of Roland pianos.
The Roland LX9 features four Grand Piano voices - the Concert Grand, Stage Grand, Mellow Grand, and Bright Grand - each of which is suited to different styles of music. For instance, the Stage Grand’s rich, vibrant tone is perfect for rock and gospel tunes. On the other hand, the Mellow Grand excels when playing in softer, romantic styles. Roland has also included a lovely Upright Piano voice in the LX9. Warm, with a slightly "woody" character, it's a delight to play.
Another excellent LX feature is the ability to mix two voices to create layered sound textures. You can also split the keyboard into two sections and play one voice on the right half and another on the left. At Bonners, we’ve had endless fun assigning a bass and cymbal voice to the left half and a piano voice to the right. It enables you to produce a fantastic jazz trio effect.
A real acoustic feel
For many pianists, the feel of a keyboard is just as important as the sound as it determines how you physically connect with the instrument. In this respect, the LX9 performs wonderfully. It features Roland's popular Hybrid Grand keyboard, which is constructed from a combination of wood and moulded parts.
With the key action, the long pivot lengths replicate an authentic acoustic piano feel and are fully responsive to the subtleties of technique employed by advanced piano players. The 88 keys are also progressively weighted - being slightly heavier in the bottom registers and lighter in the treble octaves.
The white keys benefit from pleasantly textured, ivory-feel surfaces and Roland has included its Haptic Key Vibration technology for a more engaging playing experience. This technology simulates the subtle vibrations that you would feel from an acoustic piano's body.
Technical excellence and feature-packed
With an output power of 162 watts, the LX9’s sound system is extremely powerful. The eight speakers produce a rich, warm tone, even at lower volume levels. But the loud power is always readily available should you need it, making the LX9 the ideal instrument for accompanying other musicians or even choir practices.
The piano includes outputs for two sets of headphones. Once connected, the headphones cancel the sound output from the internal speaker system, allowing you to practise in silence without disturbing others in the household. Users can also connect a smartphone or tablet device via Bluetooth to play along with your favourite songs and utilise MIDI music apps. A downloadable Roland Piano App enables you to control the LX-9 features remotely and access lessons.
Finally, the LX9 contains an advanced metronome, onboard recorder, and USB ports for connecting to computers and flash storage devices. Line outputs on quarter-inch jack sockets connect to external amplification.
Player-friendly design
The LX9 boasts several exquisite design choices that move it closer to the aesthetics of a traditional acoustic piano. Roland’s minimalist Smart-Touch control panel features fewer buttons and knobs than a conventional digital piano and includes an auto-sleep mode that activates after a few seconds, hiding the panel to better reproduce the look of a non-digital instrument. The top lid can also be raised and lowered, just like on an acoustic upright piano.
As with a grand piano, the LX-9 is fitted with three pedals and the damper pedal has a progressive action, guaranteeing a familiar feel for those who usually play acoustic instruments.
Fuss-free maintenance and installation
As a digital instrument, the LX9 never needs tuning and benefits from a low-maintenance design. The model is available in three popular cabinet colour options, Charcoal Black, Polished White, and Polished Ebony. At Bonners, we also include the LX9 in various package bundles, enabling you to purchase your piano with headphones, piano stools and various other accessories. Explore Roland LX9 bundle deals >
