Kawai MP11SE Stage Piano Overview!
The king of the stage pianos! If you're serious about having the very best key action on stage or in your home studio, then the MP11SE is the only choice. It's heavy to carry but gives the ultimate piano experience where portability is important.
The flagship Kawai MP11SE piano is unique in that it features the very best grand feel wooden-key action with ivory feel key surfaces, long key-length, simulated hammers, and a pivot-point (fulcrum) in the correct place to give an authentic grand piano experience. The MP11SE builds on its popular MP11 predecessor with the addition of high-quality Shigeru Kawai Concert Grand piano samples, upgraded GFP3 grand-feel triple piano pedal, and a new premium case design with high-gloss polished ebony end cheeks.
We LOVE This Piano!Other manufacturers may have great sounding instruments, but the MP11-SE delivers a pro-quality sound with undoubtedly the best keyboard feel of any stage/studio piano currently on the market. Weighing in at 34kg, it’s pretty heavy, but this is simply because it contains the closest replica of a traditional wooden acoustic piano keyboard in any ‘portable’ instrument. Many experienced players will confirm that the keyboard feel is just as important (sometimes more important) than the piano sound, which is why the MP11 series has proven to be a Worldwide success for Kawai. The Kawai MP11SE deserves to be at the heart of your studio or on-stage rig, and we would advise you to come and try the MP11-SE in our specialist keyboard centres for yourself – you won’t want to stop playing it! At Bonners, we LOVE this piano, and we invite you to try the MP11SE in our stores. which are in Surrey (Reigate) and Sussex (Eastbourne). Call for current in-store availability of this instrument before visiting.
The Very Best Acoustic & E.P Piano SoundsKawai is a manufacturer of many extremely high-quality concert grand pianos. They have meticulously sampled every single one of the 88 notes of their flagship Shigeru Kawai SK-EX instrument for the MP11SE and the result is absolutely stunning. The Shigeru SK-EX sound is responsive and expressive, as well as being powerful and bold when required. The combination of the wooden Grand Feel key action along with the Shigeru Kawai SK-EX piano sound means it’s easy to lose yourself for hours when playing the MP11SE – the same experience you would get from playing a high-end acoustic grand. In addition to the Shigeru Kawai SK-EX piano voice, the MP11SE is equipped with the sound of two other popular Kawai acoustic pianos – the SK5 (a studio size grand piano which is ideal for pop and jazz styles), as well as the Kawai EX concert grand sound which gives a brighter tone than the Shigeru Kawai sample. There are multiple samples of various vintage electric pianos including Fender Rhodes, Wurlitzers and even modern FM ballad pianos. These can all be customised using the virtual technician feature, and effects can be applied such as chorus and amp simulator to give an authentic vintage sound.
40 Sounds In TotalAll the important keyboard sounds are present and correct in the MP11SE, including acoustic pianos, electric pianos, clavs, harpsichords, synth pads, orchestral strings and more. The MP11SE does not have solo instrument sounds (such as sax, flute & brass) because all the focus is on the piano & keyboard tones. The synth pads, choirs and string sounds provide excellent layer options and it’s possible to create some really lush textures that will inspire you to play and play and play!
Pro Quality Effects Processor On-BoardThe MP11SE is equipped with a professional studio-quality effects processor which offers a total of 129 different customisable effects including reverbs, delays, chorus, phaser, wah, flanger, amp sim, rotary speaker and many more. In addition to the effects, there is a global four-band graphic equaliser so that you can tailor the tone of your sound to match the environment in which you are performing.
Professional MIDI ControllerThere are four keyboard zones on the MP11SE which can be split or layered as you please across the keyboard. In addition, any of these four zones can be assigned to either an internal sound or external MIDI part. Both the traditional 5 pin MIDI sockets and USB-MIDI connectors can be used simultaneously to transmit & receive data which means you can be playing the sound of a connected external MIDI-equipped keyboard or sound module, whilst also triggering the sound of your favourite softsynth on your laptop.
Virtual TechnicianThere may be times when you want to create or customise your own piano sounds and the Kawai Virtual Technician feature allows you to do just that. You have complete control over individual note attributes such as hammer noise, string resonance, tuning, tone/voicing, key noise and more. Save your own customised piano sounds into one of the on-board user memory locations.
USB Audio Recorder & PlayerThe MP11SE allows you to record the instrument’s own sound as a high-quality audio file directly to a USB memory device (not included). You can also playback pre-recorded audio files from USB in .MP3 or .WAV format.
ConnectionsThe MP11SE is a professional level stage instrument and is therefore equipped with balanced XLR audio outputs, as well as standard ¼” line outputs. There are 5pin MIDI IN/OUT/THRU sockets, as well as USB to host and device connections. The stereo line-in allows streaming of external audio devices which can be mixed with the sound of the MP11SE and sent back through the instrument’s audio outs. The headphone socket is conveniently located for personal monitoring.
