Jim Alfredson
Jim Alfredson is widely regarded as one of today’s leading Hammond organ players, known for combining deep knowledge of the classic organ trio tradition with a modern, groove-driven approach to jazz, funk and soul. Based in Michigan, Alfredson first encountered the instrument as a child, famously pulling the drawbars on his father’s Hammond B-3 at just four years old. Since then he has dedicated his career to exploring the expressive power of the Hammond organ and pushing the instrument in new creative directions.
He is best known as a founding member of the acclaimed jazz trio organissimo, as well as for his work as a composer, recording artist and session musician across a wide range of styles. Alfredson has released numerous albums with his own groups and has collaborated with leading jazz musicians, earning a reputation for performances that combine soulful groove, technical brilliance and a deep respect for the Hammond tradition.
On stage, Alfredson brings the Hammond organ to life with the energy and spontaneity that have made the instrument a cornerstone of jazz and soul music for decades. Whether delivering smoky ballads, hard-swinging jazz or infectious funk rhythms, his playing captures the unmistakable sound and spirit of the Hammond at its very best.
