Produced in Kawai’s Ryuyo Factory, the Kawai GX2 is a 5'9" grand piano that is suited to home use, studios, or small performance spaces. This piano features Kawai’s Millennium III action, which uses durable ABS-Carbon components for a reliable and responsive touch as well as the tapered solid spruce soundboard which ensures a clear and resonant tone. Keyboard Action
Kawai's highly acclaimed Millenium 3 action delivers exceptional sensitivity and control, using carbon fibre infused ABS components for increased strength and stability. This innovative design results in a lighter, faster, and more reliable action that enhances expression and dynamic range. It also reduces mechanical noise and ensures long-term durability. Longer keys and concert-length key buttons make for an easy playing feel while giving great power.

As well as incorporating Kawai’s ground-breaking Millennium III Action, the GX2’s key length has been increased considerably. The fulcrum distance is greater than in typical Grand Pianos, and as such the key pivot length is extended. In simpler terms, this keyboard allows for the most expressive control imaginable, whether you are playing at the very tip of the key, or towards the back. This consistent touch feels light, and extremely responsive, allowing for the slightest nuances in playing to be heard and felt.

Tonal Purity
The woods used in the production of the GX2 go through a rigorous selection process, with only the very finest being selected. For the soundboard, woods selected will generate the rich and deep bass tones as well as the resonance and sparkle in upper registers, whereas woods used for the bridges, ribs and even inner-rims are carefully considered before selection to ensure maximum durability and power

Premium Grand Piano hammers are used in the production of the GX2, made with felts from the best Oceanian wool. The delicate, soft exterior allows for easy pianissimo playing, while the tough, rigid interior is saved for fortissimo playing, giving you the best of both worlds across a vast range of dynamics. The hammers are also under-felted, which adds resilience and also means the hammers can be voiced in a way that maximises the tonal output of the instrument.

Long-Lasting Durability
Improvement to the overall rigidity of the GX2 thanks to an increased thickness in the wooden beam connected to the outer rim gives the piano a more immersive sound, along with exceptional tensile strength, supporting even the most expressive playing with ease. The strength of the carbon steel tuning pins also means the piano has excellent tuning stability

CORE System
The CORE system is a structural feature in selected Kawai grand pianos that focuses the piano's strength centres towards a central point. The GL50 benefits from this system, meaning that the rim, plate, and underside beams of the piano converge at a metal connector in the centre of the instrument. This creates a solid core foundation to maximise the rim's reflective capabilities, resulting in greater power, longer sustain, and a more resonant tone.

Kawai ATX4 Anytime Silent System
The ATX4 silent system is one of the most advanced piano silencer systems on the market today. With its discreet control panel and minimalist user interface, at first glance, it is hard to distinguish the GX2 ATX4 Anytime model from the standard GX2 acoustic piano. The physical components of the ATX4 silent piano system are fitted in Kawai's factory as part of the piano manufacturing process. This is far superior to retro-fitted silencer systems because the cable management, keyboard sensors, hammer stop rail, and electronics are integrated into the design of the instrument and therefore offers the most reliable and accurate method of combining electronic & acoustic piano technologies without compromising the performance of the original instrument.

To switch into 'Anytime' silent mode, simply push the power button, lock the centre pedal into the 'practice' position, put on some headphones, and play! You'll hear the sound of the legendary Shigeru Kawai SK concert grand piano in your ears, but those around you won't hear anything!

The control panel located under the left-hand side of the instrument is equipped with dual headphone jacks so that two people can enjoy the ATX4 piano in 'silent' mode at the same time. There is also an Audio AUX-IN so you can connect an external audio device to the instrument, as well as a LINE OUT jack that allows you to connect the 'digital' sound of the piano to external amplification or other devices. MIDI IN & OUT terminals give the option to expand the sound and functions further by connection to other MIDI-equipped instruments, and there is also a USB connector for connection to computers or smart devices

GP Touch Muting System
The GX2 ATX4 features a new and improved hammer stop rail system, allowing the hammer's escapement from the strings to be identical when in muting mode as in acoustic mode. This means there is no compromise in the quality of touch when playing digitally using headphones.

Bluetooth + Apps
The Kawai GX2 ATX4 piano offers full Bluetooth MIDI + Audio capability with aptX support, for streaming high-quality audio from your smart device to the piano (this will be heard through the headphones).

There are two apps specifically recommended by Kawai that will help you get the most from your ATX4 piano

PianoRemote and PiaBookPlayer.

If you want to explore the other voices (there's a total of 90 tones) or record your performance, load up the Kawai PianoRemote App for iOS or Android devices and you'll open up the true power of the ATX4 system. It's like having a top-of-the-range digital piano hidden inside your acoustic piano. PianoRemote gives you full control over all features of the ATX4 Anytime piano.

The ATX4 Anytime silent system allows you to play & hear the sound of many World-class pianos through the headphones (Kawai SH9 included) including concert grands, upright pianos, studio grands and even a honky-tonk piano. In addition to stunning acoustic piano voices, the ATX4 system features classic electric pianos, organs, harpsichords, strings, choirs, percussion instruments and even some synth pad voices. It's possible to layer any two of these voices together to create classic layered combinations such as piano+strings or organ+choir, or you could split the keyboard in two so that you have a different voice on the left register, to that on the right - for example, acoustic bass in the left hand and piano in the right, to create a jazzy feel.

Record your performance as either MIDI or AUDIO data using the app's recording feature, and share your performance with family and friends, or use it to listen back to your progress when learning difficult musical passages.

The PiabookPlayer App allows you to visually see and listen to the 377 pre-recorded pieces of music which are supplied with the ATX4 series pianos.
