Roland FP40 Portable Digital Piano; Black
The Roland FP-40 is Roland's latest portable digital piano, replacing the hugely successful FP-30X with a new generation of sound technology, enhanced speakers, smarter connectivity and an innovative learning platform designed to keep players inspired.
Whether you're buying your first digital piano, returning to playing after several years, or upgrading from an older instrument, the FP-40 delivers one of the most authentic piano experiences available in its class.
At Bonners, we've specialised in digital pianos for nearly 50 years. Our experienced piano specialists are musicians themselves and can help you compare the Roland FP-40 alongside leading models from Yamaha, Kawai, Casio and Korg before you decide.
Why Choose the Roland FP-40?
The Roland FP-40 builds on everything that made the FP-30X one of Europe's best-selling portable digital pianos.
New features include:
- Roland Piano Reality sound engine
- Newly engineered speaker system
- Refined PHA-4 Standard weighted keyboard
- Bluetooth Audio & Bluetooth MIDI
- USB-C audio, MIDI and charging
- Built-in support for headset microphones
- Dedicated Piano Sphere learning platform
- Slim, lightweight cabinet available in Black or White
The result is a portable digital piano that feels more expressive, sounds richer and offers a more enjoyable learning experience than ever before.
Authentic Piano Sound with Roland Piano Reality
The biggest improvement over the previous FP-30X is Roland's new Piano Reality sound engine.
Rather than relying solely on traditional sampling, Piano Reality combines Roland's latest sampling and modelling technologies to recreate the complex tonal changes, resonance and natural decay of an acoustic grand piano.
The result is:
- smoother dynamic transitions
- greater tonal detail
- improved sustain
- more natural resonance
- increased musical expression
Whether you're practising scales, performing classical repertoire or playing contemporary music, the FP-40 responds naturally to every nuance of your playing.
One of the Best Keyboard Actions in its Class
The Roland FP-40 features Roland's acclaimed PHA-4 Standard hammer-action keyboard.
Features include:
- Fully weighted keys
- Triple sensor technology
- Escapement
- Ivory Feel key surfaces
- Optimised touch curves for Piano Reality
This gives beginners the correct technique from day one while providing experienced pianists with the control and expression expected from a premium digital piano.
Richer Built-In Speakers
Roland has completely redesigned the speaker system.
New speaker enclosures produce:
- fuller bass
- greater depth
- wider stereo image
- improved room-filling sound
Whether you're practising quietly at home or entertaining family and friends, the FP-40 produces a noticeably bigger and more immersive sound than its predecessor.
Learn Faster with Piano Sphere
One of the FP-40's biggest innovations is the new Piano Sphere platform.
Developed with Skoove, Piano Sphere turns the FP-40 into an interactive learning system.
Features include:
- personalised lesson plans
- guided learning
- practice tracking
- achievement streaks
- song library
- recommendations based on your progress
- optional access to more than 1,000 songs
Whether you're learning for the first time or returning after a long break, Piano Sphere helps keep you motivated to practise regularly.
