Yamaha CVP701 Digital Piano; Black Walnut

If you’re a nervous novice or a more experienced player ready to take your playing to a new level of expertise and want an instrument that can help you achieve your ambitions, the Yamaha CVP701 digital piano is the right choice. This premium quality digital instrument welcomes all levels of player – from the novice just beginning their musical journey to the more advanced player who wants to experiment with new ways of producing more complex soundscapes.

Packed with original features and drawing on the expertise of Yamaha’s 100 years of piano making, the CVP701 is an exceptional instrument with Real Grand Expression technology for an authentic sound and feel.

What is Real Grand Expression?

You don’t have to be seated at a full-sized, nine-foot instrument to get that genuine grand experience. The touch, the feel, the sound of a grand – all of that can be replicated electronically, if you know what you’re doing. And Yamaha certainly does! Not only do they have over a century of experience in developing and making some of the concert grands in the world, but their reputation as one of the planet’s electronics giants means that they have both the technical expertise and musical experience to recreate that authentic grand sound.

Yamaha have sampled two of the greats – their very own CFX concert grand, and the mighty Bosendorfer Imperial concert grand – note for note. Tuned to perfection and played by award-winning virtuoso musicians, each note has been sampled and blended together to create a unique voice. This voice has then been transposed into the heart of the CVP701, giving it that bold, rich and complex range of expression – exactly what you’d expect from a grand.

But it doesn’t end there. As well as the authentic acoustic sound, the touch and feel of the piano has to be right too. So the CVP701 digital piano incorporates the GH3X (Graded Hammer 3X) keyboard with escapement and synthetic ivory keytops, which has the same action and tactile sensation as a genuine grand. The pedal action is also designed to replicate a grand, and it’s a combination of this and the instrument’s voice that gives you that ‘Real Grand Expression’ experience.

Perfect for beginners

Some digital pianos can be a little intimidating if you’re a novice player. The CVP701 is a user-friendly piano that actively encourages new players to expand their skills and explore their musical creativity. The CVP is like a patient music teacher; if you’re not playing the right note then the piano will simply wait until you do! The unique Guide feature and Follow Lights lead novices through the action of playing by leading with visible lights. As you work through the melody, guided by the lights, the instrument overlays backing tracks of orchestras and other instruments, so that it plays along with you, rather than you struggling to play along with the instrument. This boosts confidence in novice players and actively encourages you to practice more!
