Manufactured in Japan, the U1 has long been a favourite among piano teachers, students and experienced pianists thanks to its excellent build quality, consistent performance and well-balanced sound.

At 121cm tall, the U1 offers a good combination of tonal depth and practical dimensions, making it equally suitable for the home, teaching studio or practice room.

This particular example is in excellent condition for its age, with a beautifully presented polished ebony cabinet. It offers the clear, balanced tone and responsive touch for which the Yamaha U1 has become so well regarded.

Meticulously Prepared by Bonners

Our technicians have carefully inspected and prepared this piano in our on-site workshop.

The piano has been serviced and tuned, with the action checked and adjusted to ensure an even, responsive touch across the keyboard. The hammers and overall tonal balance have also been assessed as part of our workshop preparation.

The cabinet and interior have been thoroughly cleaned and prepared, leaving the piano looking and playing beautifully, ready to be enjoyed in its next home.

Why Choose the Yamaha U1?

The Yamaha U1 is one of the most established upright piano models in the world, with a reputation for excellent reliability, musical versatility and long-lasting quality.

Its 121cm cabinet provides a rich, balanced sound with good projection and dynamic control, while the responsive action makes it suitable for everyone from developing students to advanced pianists.

Japanese-built Yamaha U1 pianos remain particularly sought after, offering a high standard of construction and performance at a more accessible price than many comparable new instruments.

With its excellent overall condition and classic Yamaha playing characteristics, this 1986 U1 is a particularly appealing example of this popular model and well worth trying alongside our other upright pianos.

Why Buy a Pre-Owned Piano from Bonners?

Buying a used piano is very different from buying most second-hand products – what matters isn't simply its age, but its condition, how it has been maintained and, importantly, how well it has been prepared before it reaches its next home.

At Bonners, every pre-owned acoustic piano is thoroughly inspected and prepared by our technicians in our own on-site workshops, regardless of its age or the amount of work it needs. Our used pianos are also sold with a warranty for added peace of mind.

Our showrooms are relaxed, friendly places where you're welcome to spend time playing and comparing different pianos side by side, with no pressure to make a decision. Where possible, we'll help you compare a pre-owned piano with other instruments around a similar price, size or level so you can hear and feel the differences for yourself.

We're musicians ourselves and genuinely love these instruments. Our priority isn't simply to sell you a piano – it's to help you find the piano that feels and sounds right for you. That support continues after your purchase, with experienced customer service and after-sales care if you need us.

We offer UK-wide piano delivery, 0% interest finance options and attractive part-exchange allowances against your existing piano.
